Recarburizer Introduction:
Recarburizer is a solid additive with high carbon content and stable chemical properties, mainly used in steel, casting and other metal processing industries. It is most widely used in the steel smelting industry. In the smelting process of steel products, the smelting loss of carbon in the molten iron often increases due to factors such as long smelting time, insulation time, and overheating time, resulting in a decrease in the carbon content in the molten iron, which causes the carbon content in the molten iron to fail to reach the expected theoretical value of refining. In the steel and casting industries, recarburizers have always been regarded as important additives. By adding an appropriate amount of recarburizer to metals or alloys, the strength, hardness and corrosion resistance of the material can be effectively improved.
There are many kinds of raw materials for carburizers, and the production processes are also different. It is not the case that graphite powder is pressed and formed on the market. This production method requires the addition of too much binder to form, and the carbon content generally does not meet the requirements of high-quality carburizers. The pressed graphite powder is in solid block form and has no porous structure, so the absorption speed and absorption rate are not as good as the carburizer formed by calcination and roasting. High-quality carburizers generally refer to carburizers that have been graphitized. Under high temperature conditions, the arrangement of carbon atoms is in the microscopic form of graphite, so it is called graphitization. Graphitization can reduce the content of impurities in the carburizer, increase the carbon content of the carburizer, and reduce the sulfur content.
Recarburizer Application:
Carburizers are used in casting, which can greatly increase the amount of scrap steel, reduce the amount of pig iron or not use pig iron. At present, most carburizers are suitable for electric furnace smelting, and a small number of carburizers with particularly fast absorption speed are used in cupolas. The feeding method of electric furnace smelting is to feed the recarburizer together with scrap steel and other furnace materials. A small dose can be added on the surface of the molten iron. However, it is necessary to avoid feeding large quantities of materials into the molten iron to prevent excessive oxidation, resulting in unclear recarburization effect and insufficient carbon content in the casting. The amount of recarburizer added is determined according to the ratio and carbon content of other raw materials. Different types of cast iron require different types of recarburizers. The characteristics of the recarburizer itself are to select pure carbon-containing graphitized substances to reduce excessive impurities in pig iron. The appropriate selection of recarburizers can reduce the production cost of castings.
